Flame-worked borosilicate .999 silver and 24K fumed marble. This handmade, one of a kind marble has been fumed with .999 Silver and 24k gold on the inside and the back side fumed with Silver and 24k gold as well. The pattern on the inside is achieved in part by applying thin layers of the silver to the inside of a piece of clear glass tubing. More clear glass is applied on top of the fuming to trap a layer of the fumed metals between the layers of glass, which helps to establish a pattern as well as preserve the coloration of the glass. The tubing is then melted closed, and then another layer of both the gold and silver was applied, followed by a pattern of clear dots. All of that glass was then further melted down to become a solid mass of glass. A layer of black glass was applied to act as not only a backdrop to the color/pattern of the inside, but also as a surface onto which the color and pattern of the back side could be applied. It is 1.59" in diameter (40.51mm) and is signed "J.Cavagnaro '21". This marble will arrive safely packed from my Dagsboro, DE studio.
